This is a good and fast read which helps to put things in perspective. Most people who read this post, and the article I am about to quote and link to, are 99% richer and more educated than most people in human history. In other words, most people who read this are very lucky; myself included.
This does not mean that our depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns are not valid. It does not mean that we aren't allowed to be sad, mad, anxious, or frustrated. But, when you're feeling really low, it could help to truly think about what you have that makes you lucky and blessed.
This isn’t to say one must ignore what’s wrong or broken with the world. I’m the last one to pretend everything is unicorns and rainbows. It’s just to say that when things seem shitty, don’t forget what’s good, true and beautiful. Remember to shut up and be grateful.
